Free Site Analysis:
Have you made design errors, forgotten your meta
tags? Worse? Check it out here with our
Free Site Analysis
.
Once you find your errors, then you can use the tools here in our webmasters
resource section to fix everything right up.
Another step you don't want
to forget is spell checking your site and proofreading. Can you
understand how someone can be proud of a site that has misspellings and
errors? What do you as a visitor think of those sites when you see them?
Don't let yours be one of them.

Free Meta Tag
Generator: Generate
Meta Tags
for your site so search engines can list you in the right section. Make sure
you have the same words in your web page text. Try not to use a meta tag
keyword more than twice and never twice in a row. Multiple words keywords
("Web Design" is better than "Design") are better, and even phrases will
work. Separate you key words by a space but NO COMMA. This allows the search
engine spider to re-arrange your words into different configurations. For
example, if you have these keywords:
Web, site, design, advertising, marketing,
site, submission Then
the search engines are going to use exactly that. However, if you have your
key words like this:
Web site design advertising marketing site submission
Then all of these become possibilities:
- web site
- site design
- web design
- web advertising
- site advertising
- web marketing
- site marketing
- web submission
- advertising submission
- marketing design
- site submission
- design advertising
- advertising design
- and on and on...
Much better isn't it? Give it
a try. Sit down with paper and pencil (remember on the home page when I said
to get paper and pencil?) and write down all of the terms that you can think
of that a person might use to find your site. By that I mean, not what you
WANT them to use, but what is in your content that will make your site
show up in the listings if they type that word in a search box. Do you
see the difference?
Good! Make sure your content reflects your meta tags and vice versa.
Some search engines and directories will penalize you if they aren't
close enough or the same. It's for the best, because you don't want to
search for a term, have a page come up based on the meta tags or
keywords, go to the site only to find out the site has nothing to do
with the keyword you searched for! What a waste of time! You
definitely don't want the first thing a person thinks about your site
is that it's a waste of time! Do you?
Come back and do this for every new
page you add, and every time you make major changes to any page you
already have on your site. You should also use our site submitting
tools- either the auto submitters or the manual links above- when you
add pages, content or change your site navigation.
The ONLY exception to this
method would be if you have a really great listing, you don't want to
jeopardize it by re-submitting. If the algorithm they used to determine your
ranking has been changed, you risk losing your spot by asking to be re-spidered
or re-reviewed. Try to not re-submit at least that page and hang on to that
spot until the next auto spider or review comes along. Who knows, it could
be several more months that you might not have had and that could translate
into a huge amount of traffic you would stand to lose. |
